Almost every Saturday you can find Jessica Smith and her Cream Puffery goodies at the Lake Mary Farmer’s Market… I was fortunate enough to take home a sampling of treats last week and I became an instant fan. The Pound Cake lives up to it’s name as “The best pound pound cake I’ve ever eaten” and the chocolate cupcake with it’s whipped frosting was gone in less than 60 seconds…

The Signature “Cream Puffs” are flaky, creamy and chocolaty, perfect at breakfast or dessert…  I can’t wait to try out the lemon cream puffs this weekend!

My travels of late have taken me by the updated Mayfair Golf course. Mayfair is located at 3536 Country Club Drive in Sanford, Florida. The course has 18 holes, a driving range, clubhouse with restaurant and pro shop. It has been a while since I’ve played the course, but it looks to be very green and has a much improved appearance. I have been itching to hit some balls at the range.

The Range is located at the south side of the property and faces west… so it is nice if you want to warm up in the cooler part of the day and not have the sun in your face. A bag of range balls costs $5.00 plus tax. The range is suitable only for shorter irons, being that it is only 185 yards long. Tee time reservations can be made up to a couple weeks in advance. The Pro Shop opens at 7AM and closes at 7:30 PM.

The course is fairly open with quite a few holes with water hazards. Accuracy is still important, and most holes require a quality approach shot to modest sized greens. Beautiful oak trees set up boundaries on some of the holes. Walking is permitted and carts are also available. The course is not overly long.

I will discuss the course and restaurant more in the near future… I hope to have tasted the food, hit some balls at the range and tested the course. New Home Community:  Island Club by Taylor Morrison

Island Club was originally conceived to be a luxury home community of high-end custom homes in a gated enclave adjacent to Heathrow. The changes to the housing market in 2007 saw the custom home market retreating and the original builder in this neighborhood lost his model home to foreclosure and the remainder of the lots were sold. Fast forward a couple of years and Taylor Morrison homes has purchased the remaining lots and is building a scaled down, more affordable version of what the neighborhood was originally intended to be.

The gated entry is intact from the original developer and the homes that Taylor Morrison is building feature tile roofs, one and two story floor plans and optional third car garages.

There is currently a very good selection of homesites overlooking Island Lake or with conservation views.  If you’ve been looking for a new home and want to be close to everything that Lake Mary has to offer this neighborhood just might be the right choice for you.

2010 Lake Mary Schools FCAT Grades

After much controversy, two audits and continuing objections of educators, the State of Florida released the 2010 FCAT results this week.

Seminole County Schools routinely rank high in the State of Florida and Seminole County High Schools currently rank in the top 3% of all High Schools nationwide in the annual Newsweek Magazine poll.

The High School Grades which include a factor for graduation rates have not been released at the time of this post, but will be available in an update as soon as they are published.

Central Florida Beaches:  New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach, Cocoa Beach & The Canaveral National Seashore

Thinking about spending the day at one of Central Florida’s Top Beaches?   If this is your plan, my best advice is go EARLY!  What a difference a few hours make…   It doesn’t matter whether you choose one of our driveable beaches (Daytona & New Smyrna) or a beach with off site parking, getting there early is the key to an enjoyable day.

FYI:  High Tide is mid day this Holiday weekend which will make driving a challenge after the morning hours.

What a difference a few hours make!  New Smyrna Beach was packed last weekend and you can be sure that even more folks will be getting out to enjoy the surf and sun this Independence Day.

The East Coast Beaches of Florida are clean and waiting for you.  Just a short drive from the Orlando Area and less than 60 Minutes from Lake Mary & Seminole County, enjoying the beach is part of the Lake Mary Lifestyle.
